Scholarship Auditions

Tours of the West Virginia University and the Creative Arts Center will be available throughout the afternoon.
The Division of Theatre and Dance at WVU offers several cash awards and tuition waiver scholarships to entering freshmen and current theatre majors and dance minors.
The competitive awards are granted on the basis of outstanding talent, academic achievement (a 3.0 GPA minimum required), and demonstrated potential for success in the program.
The Fine Arts Scholarship includes a complete in-state or out-of-state tuition waiver with the expectation of consistent participation in various areas of the department. A cash award will be applied toward tuition, with any excess amount being distributed to the student to use for textbooks, supplies, etc. Both are renewable for up to four years of study.
Things You Should Know…
Auditions/Interviews
Acting
For auditions, you should prepare a 1 to 1-1/2 minute monologue from a realistic/naturalistic play. The monologue is to be memorized. Please do not attempt to portray more than one character. Monologues that require a dialect are not recommended. Please wear interview appropriate clothing that is easy to move around in.
Auditions and interviews will be conducted by members of the acting faculty. Contact Jessica Morgan at Jessica.Bishop@mail.wvu.edu
Dance

Design/Tech Portfolio Reviews
Portfolios should contain examples of your work in scenery, costumes, and/or lighting, along with other evidence of artistic ability
(samples of paintings, drawings, sculptures, or related work). Portfolios will be assessed on demonstrated and potential ability in
the areas of design and technology. Interviews (completed concurrently with the portfolio review) will consist of an informal discussion
with the student concerning previous theatre and art experiences and educational and career goals. Interviews last about 30 minutes
each and will be scheduled on a first-come, first-serve basis. For information, email
