Part-Time Instructor of Dance

Carole Wiedebusch began teaching at WVU in 1979 as an instructor of creative dance in the Preparatory Arts Program, now called the WVU Community Arts Program. From 1984-1995 she taught at Frostburg State University, where she choreographed and directed the university dance ensemble and choreographed theatre productions.

Her early ballet training was with Susan Abbey Sherman, former principal dancer for the National Ballet of Canada and a member of the Point Park dance faculty in Pittsburgh. She completed extensive study in modern and jazz dance at Duke University, American University, and in New York City. Artists such as Diane Gray (Graham), the Jose Limon Company, Paul Taylor, Ririe/Woodbury, Dan Wagoner, Gus Giordano, and Luigi have been instrumental in her professional study.

Carole has also studied abroad with the London Contemporary Dance Theatre & School. She has choreographed fashion productions throughout Switzerland, as well as in the tri-state area. Additional areas of expertise in teaching include dance history and philosophy, dance appreciation, children’s dance and ballroom dance. She has choreographed more than 60 major works for college dance. Carole continues to choreograph for the dance program in the College of Creative Arts and teaches studio and lecture courses in the Dance Minor Program and for the GEC required university courses.
